Microgaming asked their players and key stakeholders to cast votes for charities to receive a gift in lieu of festive rewards from the company.
They were offered 12 charities to vote for from four different regions (Isle of Man, UK and Europe, Africa and the rest of the world) and the four with the most votes received £7,500 each.
The votes for 2015 were recently counted and the Gift Of Giving donations were:
- Wish Upon A Dream (Isle of Man)
- CLIC Sargent (UK and Europe)
- Save The Rhino (Africa)
- Cure Cancer Australia (Rest of the World)
This was part of the campaign called Gift of Giving that was launched in 2013 as part of PlayItForward from Microgaming.
Response From Charities To Microgaming Donations
Wish Upon A Dream
The founder of Wish Upon A Dream, Lesley Turnbull said
We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded the donation after receiving the highest number of votes for the Isle of Man region.
The £7,500 donation is brilliant and will make an incredible difference to several families on the Isle of Man. We are so very grateful.
Our charity grants the wishes of sick and terminally ill children living on the Isle of Man. We are 100% independent and rely on donations like this and fundraising.
The Director Of Fundraising at CLIC Sargent, Rachel Kirby Rider said
It was an honour to receive the most votes for the UK and Europe region and we truly appreciate each vote.
The donation will help us to provide practical, financial, clinical and emotional support to children and young people with cancer, and their families.
To be diagnosed with cancer it a frightening and life changing experience with implications for everyone in the family. Our aim is to be there from diagnosis onwards to support them.
Save The Rhino
The Partnership Development Manager for Save The Rhino International, Josephine Gibson said
We are delighted to have been part of Microgaming’s Gift of Giving campaign and to have received the most votes for the Africa region.
We really appreciate everyone who kindly voted for Save the Rhino International and to Microgaming for generously donating £7,500.
With rhinos facing extinction in the wild in just 10 years at the current rate of poaching, we really value Microgaming’s support in helping us protect rhinos.
Cure Cancer Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Floyd Larsen, said

This generous gift will directly contribute to providing vital funds for innovative, groundbreaking research to Australia’s brightest emerging researchers across all types of cancer, and all areas of cancer research.
Since 1967, Cure Cancer Australia has awarded 471 cancer research grants. Many of our Researcher Alumni have become leaders in their respective fields, and gone on to make discoveries and breakthroughs that are now saving lives around the world.
It is only thanks to the support of organisations like Microgaming, and the generosity of individuals such as Microgaming’s customers, that Cure Cancer Australia can continue to support our research leaders of tomorrow.
