Online casino software company Microgaming have received an Isle of Man Award for Excellence for their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.
The Isle of Man-based company expressed their delight at receiving the award which recognises contributions to effective and ethical business practices for brands based on the island, where Microgaming is an active part of the community.
For example, the gaming operator sponsors several societies and sports clubs, including Team Microgaming Isle of Man, the national cycling team.
Since 2002, the brand’s Health & Care Trust has also given away over £700,000 to registered charities on the island.
Microgaming CEO Roger Raatgever says the award comes as “a great honour” for his company as a recognition of their social and responsible commitments.
“We believe that responsible gaming, which players trust and respect, is essential to the online gaming industry,” he adds.
For Microgaming, CSR is an all-encompassing commitment, spanning not just the local Isle of Man community, but also effective business management that benefits employees, customers and suppliers alike.
In order to win the 2012 Isle of Man Awards for Excellence CSR title, the operator had to fend off opposition from all local organisations who were able to demonstrate a culture of cooperation built in to their activities, and therefore qualify for a nomination.
