Darren Fletcher is usually known for his footballing skills, both for Manchester United and as captain of Scotland, but he has also proved to be a hit with some Scottish teenagers, who met him on a night out at the Genting Club in Fountain Park, Edinburgh.
The six boys, all from Livingston, were paying a visit to a casino as it was one of lads 19th birthday. Bookie Robbie Faulkner, was celebrating with his friends Christopher Browning, Gregor Massie, Darcy Nicholl, Daniel Johnston and Aaron Young, who are all 18 year old students.
29 year old Fletcher has been out of the game recently, following a bowel operation. He was at the Genting Club with 2 friends and was playing roulette when he got talking to the teenagers. On being told they were casino novices and on a birthday trip, he gave them a £100 token. Their luck didn’t end there though, as he then bet red for the birthday boy on 2 spins of the roulette wheel, winning both times and he handed over his winnings of £600 for the 2 wagers, to the delighted youths.
The teenagers celebrated in style, not only tipping taxi drivers and waiters, but also giving some of the money to homeless people on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.
