Had a Heart Attack? Be in a casino rather than a hospital
New research from the United States has revealed that you have more chance of surviving a heart attack in a casino or an airport rather than a hospital.
The surprising figures reveal that your chances of surviving a heart attack in a casino or an airport are 50 per cent compared to 34 per cent in a US hospital.
Paul Chan of the Mid-America Heart Institute in Kansas City led the research and said if defibrillation (a precise electric shock to the heart in an attempt to restore normal heart rhythm) occurs within 2 minutes of the attack your chances of survival are more or less doubled at 40 per cent.
However, when people have heart attacks at a hospital they are usually on their own, where as if the attack occurred in a casino or airport there will be plenty of people around who could offer help immediately.
So, the next time you are at a casino and nearly have a heart-attack after losing a fortune, remember that you couldn’t be in a better place.
Now that’s a comforting thought...
