FA Cup Final Betting

After a highly varied and entertaining 07/08 season in the English football leagues either Harry Redknapp's Pompey or Dave Jones' Bluebirds will emerge victorious in the sports most recognisable competition.

The FA Cup final wouldn't be half as interesting without the unusual statistics to whet the appetite for predicting the winners, not to mention the superstitious among us being swayed but these distinctive facts.

Portsmouth F.C. may have only won the competition once previously in 1939 but hold the uncanny record of being the longest holders of the cup, almost seven years, due to the suspension of the competition during the Second World War.

Cardiff City F.C. have also won the competition once back in 1927 and have the unique title of being the only champions outside of England to ever win the trophy.

Although it may be the first FA Cup final without one of the ‘Big Four’ teams involved, the sell-out Wembley Stadium will no-doubt host a fitting final that will surely surpass last year’s extremely dire Chelsea - Manchester United ‘the great pretenders’ final.

Unsurprisingly, Portsmouth will go into the game as favourites at 8/11. However, in a competition which has seen shock after shock, Cardiff City cannot be overlooked at big odds of 4/1.

As with all FA Cup finals, there is a plethora of other bets to attract your curiosity.

Out of all the bets available, we like the look of David James at 14/1 and Sol Campbell at 16/1 to be Man of the Match. Both have been in fantastic form for Portsmouth this season and would undoubtedly be pushing each other for Pompey’s Player of the Season.
