It’s not often you see an internationally-renowned singer in your local betting shop.
So it’s understandable why many of the punters and staff at a West Lothian branch of Ladbrokes were more than a tad surprised to see a job application from Britain’s Got Talent winner, Susan Boyle.
The 52-year-old Scottish songstress had spotted an advert in the window of her local bookies, prompting her to apply for the £6 per hour cashier role.
The Deputy Manager of the Blackburn shop in West Lothian, David Cross, told a national newspaper that his entire team “were all in shock” when Su-Bo walked in to enquire about the window advertisement. Despite her eagerness, she was told she would need to formally apply online, although Mr. Cross believes her motivation for wanting the job is to “take her mind off things” rather than a need for more money.
It’s not the first time a singer has graced the tills of ones of Ladbrokes’ betting shops. Ex-Strictly Come Dancing star and singer, Alesha Dixon has admitted working at the bookies in the past while dreaming about having a career in music.
Should Su-bo secure a job, for those of you living in the West Lothian area that aren’t so keen on experiencing the dulcet tones of the Scottish singing sensation, you can luckily seek refuge by playing at Ladbrokes online casino.
