Whilst characters from Marvel remain big business the world over, for online gaming the proverbial card was marked when Disney acquired Marvel Entertainment back in 2009.
Disney is all about family entertainment so the most shocking part of the removal of all Marvel titles from Playtech was that it has taken so long to happen.
It was on 1st April that online casinos like bet365, William Hill and Ladbrokes all removed the Marvel slots from their portfolio.
Games like Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Fantastic 4, Ghost Rider, Thor, Wolverine, Iron Man 3, Captain America and the Avengers are no longer available from Playtech.
Prior to the actual removal of the games, we’d suspected this might happen as far back as 2013 when it was stated by Disney that there would be no further games developed from Marvel. Not long after that, Amaya were forced to remove all the Marvel titles from their sites.
It’s not like Playtech are going to be resting on their laurels though, they’ve already signed a deal with Warner Brothers and already we’ve heard of plans for a Suicide Squad slot set for launch soon.
