When it comes to advertising your casino wares on television, there are a number of brands who do it well, and some not quite as well. Sky Vegas is part of the former crowd.
Watching TV a few nights ago we saw the latest TV commercial for Sky Vegas and were instantly reminded of the chap who does the adverts for Cadburys, the adverts with the tune ‘Yes Sir, I Can Boogie’ by Baccara.
Whilst the Sky Vegas ad doesn’t have a theme tune, it does have a 70’s throwback talking you through why he loves to play at their online casino.
The retro feel is certainly popular with advertisers at the moment and Sky Vegas make the most of it with turtlenecks, smoking jackets and hideous wallpaper in their commercial.
Subtitles are provided in case you don’t quite understand the American twang of the star of the advert.
Why is it people always want to know what’s going to happen next? I don’t get it? Me? I’m an ‘hombre of the unknown’
We then see him flick through a book and stop on a random page to read, and go into a cupboard full of tins with the labels removed.
The only thing that I am certain about is there’s fun in the uncertainty, in the unexpected. ‘Cos anticipation, well, that’s my emotion of choice.
The unexpected, that’s what keeps me interested and why I play at Sky Vegas.
What did seem out of place in the commercial was the fact that the character was playing at the site on a mobile phone. It might have been a bit more fitting if they’d got in an old style computer!

It’s the first advert that we have seen that has not advertised their current sign up bonus in the closing five seconds of the commercial!
