Microgaming have announced the biggest ever jackpot payout for an online bingo player of more than £5 million.
But rather than winning the amount while playing bingo, Butlers Bingo member John O was playing The Dark Knight, the online video slot based on the recent Batman film of the same name.
He wagered 30p on a spin, and hit the progressive jackpot, for a payout of £5.88 million – a rate of return of nearly 20 million times his original bet.
John O reveals that he had only signed up for the site a few days earlier, and is currently in a state of shock at his “good fortune”.
He jokingly adds that his plan to buy his daughter an iPad for Christmas has now been replaced with buying her a house instead.
Microgaming point out that, unlike other online gaming brands, they pay jackpots in a single lump sum, rather than instalments.
That means John O already has the full £5.88 million in his account – an early Christmas present that’s likely to add some extra celebration to his festive season.
His exact payout totalled £5,883,044.43 and is the second major win on The Dark Knight in recent weeks, after a Norwegian player scooped 5.4 million Kroner playing the same slot.
