Casino software provider Microgaming has strengthened their branded game collection as the Battlestar Galactica slot becomes available in online casinos.
The Isle of Man-based company had been involved in some controversy last month as the estate of J.R.R Tolkien sued Warner Bros. over the sale of rights that lead to the creation of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring slot.
After distancing themselves from this issue Microgaming has moved swiftly on to the next title by launching the Battlestar Galactica slot soon after (December 5).
The slot is based on the science fiction franchise which first hit television screens in 1978. Next year will see the 35th anniversary of the show and, in addition to the branded slot, the franchise will also return in the form of a new series titled Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome.
In a press release announcing the launch of the slot, Microgaming described the slot as ‘revolutionary’. It sees the first appearance of an Achievement Ranking System which will allow players to unlock extra video content as they continue to play the game.
The creation of the slot was made possible by a licensing agreement between the casino software company and NBCUniversal Television made in October. At the time of this announcement Christopher Lucero, director for global consumer products for NBCUniversal Television commented: “We’re confident that Microgaming can capture all of the action of Battlestar Galactica with the real-life exhilaration of online gaming.”
The slot adds to Microgaming’s already impressive selection of branded games which currently includes The Dark Knight, Tomb Raider and Hitman. It will be available in all Microgaming casinos including 32Red, Spin Palace and Ladbrokes.
