One of the most popular progressive jackpots available online is that offered by the Mega Moolah series of games.
It has been reported that on April 8th there was a winner in either Canada or Australia but this has yet to be confirmed. However, it would explain the drop in jackpot from over £10 million seen last week.
Because the base currency for this Microgaming jackpot is pounds sterling, the exchange rate of a win in CAD$ or AUS$ would mean that the winner would have taken home a jackpot worth about £5million.
This is what happened in April of last year when a player won CAD$7,561,773. This was £4.09million at the time of exchange which saw the jackpot reset to £3,469,553.
As of today, the jackpot on the slots in the Mega Moolah series was at £5.1million and rising!
The last really big winner on one of the games of the series was Jon Heywood, a soldier who netted a record-breaking £13.2 million in October 2015 with just a 25p spin.
In December we reported that the £13,213,838.68 win landed by Mr. Heywood at Betway Casino was recognised as a Guinness World Record Title.
The title bestowed upon Microgaming, the developer behind the games, was ‘Largest Jackpot Payout In An Online Slot Machine Game”.
The UK hasn’t fared too badly when it comes to finding the big money winners on the Mega Moolah progressive games.
In December 2012, John Orchard placed a 30p bet on the Dark Knight slot at Butlers Bingo and netted himself the progressive jackpot of £5.8 million!
