Search engine Yahoo has revealed that ‘lottery’ was the second most searched daily habit in the UK this year.
The term was beaten by ‘stock prices’ in the list of Top 10 searches for daily habits but came in ahead of such terms as ‘weather’, ‘TV listings’, ‘rail’, and ‘horoscopes’.
This list was a part of Yahoo’s 2012 Year in Review where they look at the most searched terms of the year. ‘Lottery’ was actually the only gambling-related term to appear on any of the lists created by the California-based search engine.
Other lists included in the annual review was the Top 20 News Searches of 2012, the Top 20 most searched terms on mobile devices, the Top 15 searches for politicians in 2012 and the flagship category – Top 20 searches of 2012 on Yahoo!UK.
Topping that list was ‘Olympics’ – which doesn’t comes as the biggest shock as Olympic fever swept the nation this summer when the world’s finest athletes came to London.
Sport featured prominently with it accounting for half of the top ten searches. Arsenal (tenth), Formula 1 (seventh), Manchester United (fourth) and Liverpool (second) were also included.
Other topics featured in Yahoo’s Year in Review were fashion, finance, innovations and that much-loved internet topic – funny animal pictures.
