Grosvenor will soon be opening a new casino in Reading and have turned to Reading College and Jobcentre Plus, to help them with their staffing needs.
There will now be 20 formerly unemployed people who will start work in March, at the casino in Rose Kiln Lane, South Reading.
Grosvenor Casinos originally approached Jobcentre Plus at the end of last year and arranged an open day which was attended by approximately 100 unemployed people, which showed them the different positions available at the casino. From this event 38 people were selected to go on a training course at Reading University, which was designed by the casino to cover areas such as resolving conflicts, spotting problem gamblers and food hygiene over a six week period. From these candidates 20 were selected and the soon to be launched Grosvenor Casino is confident, that their new staff will be a positive asset.
This sector based training academy approach, has been designed to successfully match unemployed people with job positions, by offering pre-employment training, work experience placements, followed by guaranteed interviews. As the course has been designed with input from the Job Centre, employers know that their positions will be filled by people who have undergone relevant training and so have the skills needed for the position, as well as the will to succeed.
