There’s a famous quote from Twelfth Night, the Shakespeare play, which opens with the words; ‘If music be the food of love play on.’
Thanks to the hard work of a local casino, the Birmingham Repertory Theatre has secured funding for another year, so in this case playing on has definitely benefitted the Rank Group.
The Grosvenor G Casino in Birmingham is now in their 6th year of supporting the theatre group, in a long term relationship, which dates back to 2007. Their latest donation will help the theatre celebrate their 100th birthday in style, which will happen later this year, as well as the re-opening of the newly refurbished venue, which is scheduled to be revealed in September.
An exhibition will be held April 16th – May 7th at the Broad Street casino, which will commemorate the 100th year of the theatre being open, which will include exhibits from former years such as photographs, costumes and other memorabilia from past times. The relationship has been praised by both sides, which feel it is of mutual benefit and which will hopefully continue for some time yet.
If there have been any sponsorship deals in the past between casinos and different organisations, they have often been of the sporting kind, but it is refreshing to discover a cultural one.
