Mr Green

  • A new casino site for the modern era
  • After a 2016 redesign and relaunch, one of the trailblazing online casino sites of the Noughties has been brought bang up to date for the Tweenties.

Deposit and play £20 at the new Mr Green online casino site and you’ll get 100 free spins on the Mr Green Moonlight slot – and that’s as well as the 100% deposit match up to £100 on your first payment into your account too.

It’s the sweetener to entice more people to sign up at the relaunched site, which has a fresh and modern look for 2016 and continues where the 2008 site left off, setting new standards for the online casino industry. Like its predecessor, the new site has an overall layout and design that is at the cutting edge for its time, which should help it to last over the coming years as well.

Promotions Take Top Billing

We’re pleased to see the Promotions page placed on an equal footing with the Home page, as the two main links at the top-left of the new Mr Green casino site layout. On an early visit after the relaunch we couldn’t find the Promotions page at all, but now it’s right where it should be, so you can always easily see what the latest welcome bonuses and competitions might be.

Mr Green TV Advert

Mr Green’s latest TV advert celebrates their revamped online casino with a fantastic free spins promo.

On our latest visit, active Promotions included the £100 deposit match for new members, which is not bad but isn’t going to set the internet alight, especially compared with the old £350 deal on the previous version of the website. But there were bonus spin giveaways too, music festival tickets to be won and a £15,000 cash prize pool consisting of sums of £10-£100 awarded via a raffle-like system. All in all, nothing you’d object to winning, and a good variety of different types of prize to play for.

Best of all, the Promotions page itself is really slick. Everything is there on the one page, and by clicking ‘Read more’ you get a full description of what you can win and how. There are links to the full Ts & Cs as you would expect, but mostly you can get all of the basic information without having to leave the page, which is a nice touch that some other online casinos would be wise to reproduce.

Best Features Forward

Some of the other design features we felt were missing have been restored too, which we’d like to think is thanks to us pointing them out!

There’s a horizontal navigation bar below the main site logo, giving you easy access to slots, table games, live casino tables and so on – we were even pleased to see that the free spins promotion running at the time had its own section on the navigation bar, to take you directly to the relevant slots, which is a really thoughtful touch to make it even easier to benefit from the bonus.

And it’s no surprise to see the search function working either – our earlier visit found it broken, but it’s back and better than ever, as typing into the box produces instant results, filtered to show you only the titles that match your search. There’s no need to hit enter, or click or tap anything, or wait for a page of results to load – it’s all right there on the page instantly. Brilliant work from the designers.

However, it’s still not perfect, for instance if you try to find the deposit and withdrawal methods from the home page – as they’re just not there. In fact we found them buried in a link at the bottom of the ‘Green Gaming’ page, and that’s only linked from the bottom of the home page. This is information that should be much easier to find, especially as the Support link prompts you to use live chat, email or telephone, and doesn’t link through to the (actually very well written) pages about deposit/withdrawal methods and setting a payment limit to avoid spending too much.

Apps, Apparently

Mr Green mobile casino

Mr Green won Best Mobile Casino in the World in 2016, and if you want to experience it for yourself, you’ll need an Apple or Android smartphone or tablet. Apple users can get Mr Green in the App Store, but if you’re an Android user you’ll notice it’s missing from Google Play (as of the time of writing, anyway). To get the app for Android, you’ll need to visit the Mr Green website, scroll down to the bottom of the home page, and click the Android logo. From the page that loads, you can click the Download the App button to install it – but you’ll have to enable apps from ‘unknown sources’ first. It’s a shame the process is so convoluted, and hopefully one of the few remaining kinks that will get ironed out.

Games Galore

The well organised home page gives you plenty of ways to find your favourite game, with sections for top rated and new games, live casino tables, video slots, jackpot games, blackjack and roulette, as well as a complete listing of all the games on the site. It’s always good to see this included – it lets you see at a glance everything that’s on offer, and it just feels like there’s nothing hidden from you this way.

Click or tap on any game’s icon to see more information about it, including a summary of the key features and bonuses, even if you’re not already logged into a member account. The only thing missing, as on our earlier visit, is a running total of the latest jackpot amounts. It would be nice to see this added in, as it’s common on other casino sites, and it seems sensible to let people know which games have the biggest potential payouts to offer without having to go through page by page.

Live and Let Live

Mr Green live casino games

Finally, a special mention for the Live Casino section, which is the perfect proof of how Mr Green stays at the forefront of what is possible in online casino software. Along with the usual live dealer tables, it includes Live Immersive Roulette, with multiple viewing angles to get up close to any part of the table as you would in a real-world casino. It’s a great way to put the player at the heart of the Roulette experience, and one more thing to love about a site that still has a little room for improvement, but which is generally very slick, carefully thought out, and obviously aimed at providing the best possible experience for its members.
