Bodog First to Receive UK Online Gambling License

Following the news from MP John Penrose that the UK’s online gambling laws will change with operators having to apply for a license offer products in the country, we expected there to be a rush of activity in and around the industry.

However, we didn’t expect anyone to move quite as quickly as Bodog have. The company, founded by Canadian Calvin Ayre, have already obtained a license a license to reach players in the UK.

The casino operator already holds three licenses for Europe and Asia and will now be able to offer their products securely to UK online casino players. Patrik Selin, CEO of Bodog Europe and now Bodog UK, expects it to take about three months before the site goes live in the UK.

Before the site can launch, there are a number of issues needed to be resolved. The first of these is to install servers, while the hiring of new staff is also necessary. The license granted to Bodog allows them to offer casino and sports betting products to players.

Selin added: “We are going to do a couple of big things that will surprise people.”
