Paddy Power have taken a darker turn in their novelty bets section this week, as they’re now offering odds on unemployment in the UK. Earlier in the year Paddy Power did initially offer odds on UK unemployment, but this new selection is grimmer than ever, proving that whilst some can see “green shoots”, it looks like a large portion of the nation will instead become used to seeing green job centre signs.

The odds have been deemed by us at Jackpot as “pessimistic”, but it could be the case we’re merely being too optimistic about the supposed end of the recession. Anyway, economic issues aside, below are Paddy Power’s odds on how many people will be unemployed by the end of this year:

• 3,000,001 - 3,300,000 7/4

• 2,700,001 - 3,000,000 9/4

• 3,300,001 - 3,600,000 3/1

• 2,400,000 - 2,700,000 4/1

• Over 3.6 Million 9/2

• Under 2.4 Million 8/1
