First Football Club to Ban Twitter

Following the news that Darren Bent, a player at Tottenham Hotspur, has hit out against the club’s chairman on Twitter, Paddy Power have released odds on which football club will be the first to ban Twitter.

Last night, Bent released a tirade of abuse against Daniel Levy, his current club’s chairman, which is understood to have been caused by the club’s negotiations with Sunderland, which Bent is hoping to move to. Bent twittered numerous times, suggesting that he’s getting “seriously getting p***** off” and expressed that he wished Levy to “stop f***ing around”. Bent isn’t the only prominent public figure to stir up Twitter related controversy this week though, as David Cameron recently suggested in an interview that he doesn’t use Twitter because “too many twits make a t**t.”

Tongue firmly in cheek as ever, Paddy Power are now offering odds on which club will be the first to ban Twitter. Unsurprisingly, Tottenham is number one in the odds list:

  • Tottenham Hotspur 4/1
  • Hull 6/1
  • Stoke 8/1
  • Manchester United 9/1
  • Bolton 10/1
  • Blackburn 10/1
  • Burnley 12/1
  • Birmingham 12/1
  • Sunderland 14/1
  • Everton 14/1
  • Portsmouth 14/1
  • West Ham 16/1
  • Wigan 16/1
  • Wolves 18/1
  • Fulham 18/1
  • Aston Villa 20/1
